Monsopiad Cultural Village
The Monsopiad Cultural Village is located next to the Moyog River in Penampang and
is about 10 km south of Kota Kinabalu.
Opened in 1996, the village was set up in tribute and memory of the great Kadazan
warrior and headhunter, Monsopiad. It is operator by Monsopiad’s direct descendants
The Village is a living museum as well as an interesting place to see the culture,
traditions and history of Sabah's largest ethnic group, the people of Kadazan-Dusun;
You will be able to see a typical Kadazan native house, built using few types of
palm tree and bamboo. Staffs are dress in the colourful traditional custom complete
with beats and dancers perform traditional dances and musical performances daily.
There are several MUST do while you are there:
- Must visit the House of Skull
- Must try your hands on a blowpipe
- Must drink the rice wine
